The school started the process for council approval for a building project in October, 2009. It has been a long and arduous process to receive the final permission from the local council to begin the building project. Thankfully, council approval finally came through in January, 2012.
Construction began on 10 April, 2012 at the back of the primary building. The building will have two storeys. The building will function as a library on the second floor and an additional teaching classroom on the first floor. The target for the completion of the building is end of October, 2012.
The overall cost for the building project will be 1.3 million dollars. The Federal government’s BER program will contribute $ 850,000.00 towards the project. The remaining amount is being funded through the school’s retained earnings and borrowings.
To bring the project to this point has been of significant cost to the school. The school is therefore asking parents to consider making a donation to the school’s building fund. Donations to the building fund are tax deductible. If you are able and willing to make a donation to the building project, please do so in June so that it can be used against you next tax return. If you are willing to make a donation to the building fund but are unable to do so until later in the year, it would still be greatly appreciated because when the building is completed additional funds are still required to outfit the building.
